The Image Reduction and Analysis Facility (IRAF) is an image processing and astronomical data analysis system developed by the IRAF group at the National Optical Astronomy Observatories (NOAO) in the USA, working with collaborators at STScI and elsewhere. The ADASS IRAF demo will feature the latest developments in IRAF software, including the IRAF V2.11 release, the new PC-IRAF release, the X11IRAF data visualization tools, the Mosaic data handling system, and new science GUIs for photometry and spectroscopy. The IRAF group will be available to discuss major new IRAF developments such as the NASA ADP-funded Open IRAF effort, the distributed object and message bus framework being developed for Open IRAF, and new GUI and data visualization software being developed in collaboration with SAO under a NASA AISR grant.
We plan to demo the IRAF system. We will need a Sun workstation, 17-20" color monitor, 600Mb+ of diskspace, a minimun of 32Mb of memory, SunOS or Solaris operating system running X Windows, DAT, Exabyte, or CD drive for downloading the software initially.
