P9.1 Interfacing with the Gemini Data Handling System

Shannon Jaeger, Steve Cockayne, Jennifer Dunn, Séverin Gaudet, Norman R. Hill (NationalResearch Council of Canada/Herzberg Institute of Astrophysics/Canadian Astronomy Data Centre)

The Data Handling System (DHS) developed for the Gemini telescopes by the Canadian Astronomy Data Centre consists of eight server programs. A graphical user interface, which uses the Gemini Tcl/Tk interpreter (OCSWish), provides mechanisms for monitoring and controlling the entire DHS system. Although there are eight servers to control and monitor, the interface communicates with only two! This paper describes the design and implementation of the DHS graphical user interface.
